FUNGAL NAIL LASER TREATMENT

Fungal Nail Laser Treatments in Nottingham

Fungal Nail Laser treatments, 3 to 8 out of 100 people in the UK develop Fungal Nail infections. Infections are contagious and easily spread, so effective treatment is needed to remove them. Nearly all infectious agents can be killed by heat, which makes treating fungal nail infections with a laser an extremely effective option. We recommend a course of treatments, with 3 to 4 weeks in between, to combat the infection effectively.
We do usually advise having all nails done on the foot with the infection due to it being so highly contagious.

How long does the treatment take?

The duration of the laser depends on the size of the area being treated. Treatment times can vary from 5 minutes (for 1 fungal nail) up to 20minutes (for 10 nails). We recommend having a course of sessions, performed every 4 weeks, to remove the infection.

Does the treatment cause any pain?

There will be heat on the affected area and small tingling sensations. We can use various methods, including cryogen, ice packs and cooling air, to keep any pain to a minimum. Our laser therapists always check throughout treatment to ensure you are comfortable.

How long does healing take? When will I see a difference?

Directly after treatment, we would expect some redness and heat in the area, which may last several hours.
Fungal nails are tough to remove due to their stubborn nature, so we cannot guarantee the timing of results. Most patients would see a change in the first three months, and it can take 6-14 months to fully remove the fungus from the nail. These results depend on several factors, such as the speed of nail growth, size of the nail, following our homecare advice and more.

How do I get started?

We offer a complimentary consultation to discuss your needs and can often treat you on the same day.
There are a few things to be aware of before attending your consultation or your first treatment.

  • Bring clean socks for after your appointment to reduce further infection. Cotton socks are the best.
  • Avoid sun exposure to the treatment area 2-4 weeks before your session.
  • Please ensure you shave all hair on your toes or fingers before treatment.
  • Please ensure that the nails being treated are cut and filed down neatly.
  • Be sure to clean and exfoliate your feet and toes before treatments.
  • Ensure all nail polish or product is removed before your appointment.

A full aftercare list is provided during consultation, and we will answer any questions. It is important to follow our aftercare closely to achieve results, as cross-infection can occur easily if these steps are not followed.
